Between the Lines
If Only You Could Hear
Each string you touch begins to sing,
Each key has more to say.
And something beautiful takes shape
In notes you gently play.
Your voice can reach the quiet places
Where words have never been.
And stir the things we carry deep,
The things we've never seen.
Those hands can draw a thousand dreams,
Give shape to things unseen.
And make the simplest little things
More beautiful than they've been.
You hear the notes that miss their place,
The lines that don't look right.
But I see beauty in your work,
And something full of light.
I wish that you could see yourself
The way I see you shine.
And trust the gifts God gave to you,
The beauty you can't see.
So when your hands begin to shake,
And doubts are all you see,
Remember, even when you doubt,
There's someone who believes.
And if you cannot trust your gifts,
Or see what I can see,
I'll hold that faith until you do,
And hope one day you'll believe.
